Being on holiday last week helped me relax a bit, learn new things, get new ideas in my mind and of course… cook a lot!
Taking a traditional Asian food, adding a little bit of Mediterranean flavor to it and then turning it spicier for your house hosts to enjoy, as spicy foods are all they live for, from what I found out. This was really no challenge, but before deciding on what to cook, I felt a bit lost as nearly every store close to us was completely closed!
The title I gave to this recipe is “Spicy Mediterranean Noodles”, although the title that would fit the most would be “What to cook when you are almost out of ingredients and there are only a few basic ingredients left that you could mix up into a great and yummy food, should you have the creativity and will to do it”, but of course that title would be confusing and -I guess- not interesting name for a recipe, so let’s stick with “Spicy Mediterranean Noodles” for now!
Before starting, I would like to thank my friend and the site’s merchandise designer, Mary Weasley, for inviting me as a guest to Lixuri and giving me the chance to cook somewhere else than my kitchen! I had such a great time and got back with lots of new ideas!
-450g big straight shaped -gluten free- noodles
-3 red hot chili peppers
-3 teaspoon tabasco
-1 teaspoon peanut butter
-½ teaspoon cinnamon
-1 teaspoon black pepper (spice)
-2 teaspoon salt
-3 gloves garlic
-4 tablespoons olive oil
HOW TO MAKE IT:
Boil the water in a big pot and put your noodles inside. Add 1 teaspoon of salt. Leave for 5 minutes. Stir them for at least 2 times, so as for them to get wet.
Melt your tomato into juice. Add 1 teaspoon of peanut butter, 3 teaspoons tabasco, the rest of the salt, the cinnamon and the pepper. It might be hard for you to put the peanut butter into the sauce, so you could optionally use some of the boiling water to make the peanut butter more moist. Chop your onion into little slices and set aside.
Put 2 tablespoons of olive oil on a pan and start heating it on maximum level. Put the onion slices inside, until they melt (this will take about 2 – 3 minutes). Add the garlic and the noodles (after drying them up) and start stirring intensely for 15 minutes. Add the sauce and the rest of the olive oil and continue stirring.
Your Spicy Mediterranean Noodles are ready!
